Mrs McGregor is our Learning Mentor. She works across the school, supporting children and families as required. She works with children, parents, school staff and outside agencies to find the best way forward for children who may be experiencing some difficulties, which may be affecting their learning.
As our Learning Mentor, Mrs McGregor provides practical support and guidance to families and children to help develop any aspect of social and emotional development, with the aim of developing the ability to be independent and successful in all they do.
As a school we have a referral system in place. Referrals can be made by any adult in school and help us target our support effectively according to need. This might be a space to talk, an intervention group or a more formal referral. In doing this, we can also provide support to parents, to help remove barriers to learning both within and outside of school.
A huge part of the work of our learning mentor is in supporting transition, not only to secondary school but also between classes and key stages. We understand that changing schools or even moving classes at the end of the year can be a worrying time for children.
Our Learning Mentor also offer support to parents. Whether it’s a listening ear or signposting parents to more structures support or courses, the team will do all it can to help. As a parent, there may be times when you are worried about your child. We are here to help. If you would like to discuss your concerns, please contact Mrs McGregor via the school office.
Through our Christian Values and ethos of the school, we are united in wanting all our children to be happy and successful in whatever path they follow in life.
